AMC Developing Alan Wake Series

Video game adaptations are all the craze right now, and, according to Deadline, AMC is getting in on the fun with an Alan Wake series. Remedy Entertainment’s Creative Director, Sam Lake, revealed the news this past Thursday as part of the game’s 12th anniversary. “AMC, the wonderful, wonderful home for absolutely brilliant TV shows has bought the rights to Alan Wake,” he said.

Alan Wake was originally released for the PC and Xbox 360 back in 2010 and had a remastered version released in October 2021. The game is set in the small town of Bright Falls, Washington, which is where Alan’s wife takes him to help alleviate a two-year case of writer’s block. When his wife goes missing, Alan must battle his inner demons and supernatural, shadowy forces to get her back.

Many of the themes and ambiance of Alan Wake were inspired by Chris Carter’s X-Files and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, two shows that have aged incredibly well. If any of the upcoming video game adaptions have a shot at being a hit with non-gaming audiences, it very well might be this one.
