Review: WWE Elite WALTER
The year 2020 has been about as enjoyable as a stiff slap to the chest by WALTER himself. Now, thanks to Mattel and Ringside Collectibles, the big Austrian is available to add to your sacred wrestling figure collection. The COVID-19 pandemic has limited nearly all international pro wrestlers, but the timing of Ringside’s WALTER exclusive could not have been any better. Coming off of his five-star performance against Ilja Dragunov on the October 29th edition of NXT UK, WALTER’s stock has never been higher. (If you still haven’t watched that match, you really need to stop what you’re doing and remedy that. It is spectacular.)
I’m a big fan of the figure’s packaging. Being that this figure is a tribute to the night that WALTER defeated Pete Dunne for the (then) WWE United Kingdom Championship, the packaging has an NXT New York 2019 theme and it’s very sleek. It’s almost a shame to open it. On the back, you get a picture of WALTER holding the title up high in victory and a brief description of the storyline heading into that bout.
The figure itself comes equipped with the Ring General’s essentials: His black robe, his WWE/NXT United Kingdom Championship, and an extra pair of hands for some slappy-slappy poses. The only thing that’s missing is Dvorak Symphony No. 9, IV. Mattel has had a great year when it comes to creating head sculpts for their figures, and this WALTER scan continues that momentum. Dominik Mysterio jokes aside, the scan and the facial expression are perfect. As you might be able to see, mine has a bit of a paint flaw on his forehead, but that comes with the territory when it comes to ordering figures online.
The Ringside Collectibles WALTER Exclusive is available now at RingsideCollectibles.com, and it’ll run $27.99 before taxes and shipping, but I still strongly recommend it. This is probably one of those figures that you’re going to want to jump on now while you can.
