First Look: AEW Unrivaled (Wave Five)

On Friday, All Elite Wrestling and Jazwares took to social media to show off series five of the AEW Unrivaled series. While the lineup for the series has been known for a while, it was our first chance to see the official photos of the upcoming figures. In what seems to be a recurring theme with the line, it’s a but of a mixed bag.

I think that we can all agree that the must-have figure of this wave is the debuting Luchasaurus. The 65-million year old isn’t the easiest figure to pull off with the amount of color and detailing involved, but–at least from this photo–it looks like Jazwares and WCT nailed it. Luchasarus’s tag team partner, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, also makes his debut in the line. While obviously not as eye-catching as Luchasaurus, it’s an impressive figure. The scaling of the Unrivaled series hasn’t been great so far, but I’m holding out hope that Jungle Boy can sit atop Luchasaurus’s shoulders.

AEW’s first-ever tag team champions, SCU, are also included in the lineup. Again, not the most flashy of figures, but they are pretty spot on. I’m particularly impressed by those tag titles. There’s more color and detailing in there than I expected.

The thing that I’m most confused by at this point is that if you can capture Luchasarus, Jungle Boy, and SCU’s facial likenesses so well, what in the hell is going on with Adam Page? The Hangman from wave two was rough, and it’s not that much better here. Good thing that it comes with that handkerchief option, otherwise that figure is an easy pass. But I will say that the chase-version of the Adam Page is the first time that Jazwares has released a rare figure that was more appealing than the standard version. What can I say, I like my Hangman in chaps.

Finally, we get more Moxley. The standard version of Moxley isn’t all that different from the one that was released in the second wave, but hopefully they have adjusted the height of the figure. That previous Moxley was way too tall. But if you missed the Moxley from that second wave as stores were still slowly receiving stock of the AEW line, this is the perfect one to pick up. As for the chase, I really like it. The Paradigm Shift t-shirt is a nice addition, and one-eyed Mox looks like he’s ready for a deathmatch.

Speaking of deathmatches…

User Ingloriousmax posted the photo above on the r/AEWUnrivaled subreddit. If legit–and the packaging does look to be in live with the Unrivaled series–it looks like Jazwares will be bringing a little blood and guts to the lineup. Hard to tell what all is included but you can clearly see a chain, a chair wrapped in barbed-wire, a broom wrapped in barbed-wire, and baseball wrapped in barbed-wire, and a large barbed-wire spider web. Basically, a shit-ton of barbed wire. A truly awesome addition.
