Marvel Legends Spider-Verse Figures Hold Their Own

What up, Danger?

As we impatiently check our inboxes in hopes of shipping notifications for the Mafex figures that we pre-ordered a year and a half ago, Hasbro have released a Spider-Man Into The Spiderverse wave that may do more than just hold you over until those others arrive.

In all my years of figure collecting, I don’t know that I have ever had a harder time getting a figure to stand up on its own than this Peter B. Parker. I’m not sure if it’s the jacket, the long limbs, or the thin ankles, but, even with a stand, this guy does not want to stand upright. And you know that feeling that you get when you’re trying to bend a fresh figures joint for the first time? That “Please don’t break. Please, please don’t break” feeling? Well, Peter B. Parker snapped right in the hip area almost immediately. So, just be sure to use caution when trying to pose him. He’s a bit of an awkward fella.

Other than that, I think it’s a great figure. That Spiderverse animation style really lends itself well to figures, and the Marvel Legends line is no different. As for Miles, the same can be said about the quality. While mine has a few paint defects on the face, it still looks really good. My only complaint—aside from Miles not wearing J’s, which is understandable—is that Miles masked and unmasked look so good that I can’t decide which one to go with for the display.

Overall, I’m very impressed with these figures. From afar—hell, maybe not even that afar—these look every bit as good as the Mafex figures that we have been waiting for. Obviously, it’s missing the fabric-based clothing and the variety of attires, but when you consider that these guys are a fourth of the cost, it’s a fair tradeoff all things considered.
